DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program:On helping parents of child laborers
The Li-o Parents Association lies within the humble Barangay Li-o in the province of Romblon. Romblon is located in the region of MIMAROPA, which is among the top three regions in the country that has the highest proportion of working children according to the Philippine Statistics Authority and United Nations Children’s Fund in their study entitled, “Child Poverty in the Philippines” last 2015. The organization was created and registered with the DOLE Region IV-B in December 2012. It started with 27 members composed of parents of former child laborers who were engaged in quarrying, charcoal production, and processing of copra, and formerly working on marble fabrication.
