Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz directed recently all regional directors of the   Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers to consider the children of sugar workers as part of the list of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries.

City of San Fernando, La Union - The Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office 1 has already released P1 million total assistance to Bauang, La Union to fund the municipality’s livelihood projects under the government Bottom-Up approach.

To preserve Badjao culture, generate jobs, provide income, and restore self-esteem, Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz yesterday instructed the regional coordinating council composed of various DOLE agencies and headed by DOLE Regional Office No. 9 Regional Director Sisinio Cano to work-out a convergence program for the promotion and establishment of tepoh, the Badjao's traditional mat-weaving, into sustainable and environment-friendly enterpises.

Yesterday, when Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz paid a visit to Zambonga City and awarded Mayor Maria Isabelle "Beng" Climaco three checks of P499,800 each, and two more worth P468,498.42 and P31,301.58, respectively, the amiable city chief executive expressed profuse thanks, telling her the visit is most timely as the City is now undergoing recovery and rehabilitation stage.

To extend much needed help to thousands of victims of Typhoon Yolanda, the DOLE Regional Office No. 6 has mobilized its staff to respond to the needs of workers affected by the super typhoon and allotted P2.5 million more for the emergency employment of worker-victims.
