Manila —— For the first time, the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) will give awards for the Best Livelihood Project Video Documentation on the upcoming Kabuhayan Awards for 2018.

The Kabuhayan Awards is an awards and recognition system being held by the BWSC under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program. It aims to reward the relentless efforts and perseverance of its beneficiaries with the able assistance of the DOLE Regional Offices (ROs) in realizing their goals and motivate them to sustain the gains out of the DOLE funded livelihood projects. During the recognition ceremony, the winning entries are shown to the stakeholders and partners through video documentation done by the respective ROs.

For the previous years, the Bureau only used to give awards for the Best Individual Project and Best Group Project, judging the projects for its impact to the beneficiaries and the community. For 2018, the Bureau would like to recognize the efforts of the ROs for doing the said video documentation of their entries, showing the impact of the program on the most creative and informative way.

“We will give awards for the top three video documentaries produced by the ROs. This is to recognize efforts of the ROs for doing the video documentation of their entries as part of the Kabuhayan Awards”, said Ms. Maria Lourdes Gonzales, Chief of the Workers in the Informal Economy Development Division (WIEDD).

The initial round of deliberation started within the WIEDD on April 2 to 6, 2018, shortlisting the 30 video documentary entries to five per category: Individual Category and Group Category. The second phase of deliberation was held on April 12, 2018 involving the top five entries. The deliberation was done by Mr. Peter Paul Ang of the Information and Publication Service, and Ms. Arianne Ishreen C. Bucar and Mr. Melchor M. Sampang from the Program Monitoring and Technical Support Services Division of the BWSC.

The criteria for judging includes content (30%), coherence (20%), clarity (15%), and creativity (35%). Out of the top five per category, only three will be selected and will receive Php 15,000.00 (First Prize), Php 10,000.00 (Second Prize), and Php 5,000.00 (Third Prize).

“In line with recognizing the efforts of the ROs, we will also award the best performing RO in terms of the overall implementation of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program”, Ms. Gonzales added. The winners will be announced on the Kabuhayan Awards to be held on May 11, 2018 in Metro Manila.
