The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) celebrated the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week through various channels.

Project Inclusion Network (PIN), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), are one in the belief that Persons with Disability should not be left behind in the efforts to recover from the effects of COVID-19 pandemic. Persons with Disability, under normal circumstances, already experience barriers that hinder them from fully participating in society, and are further aggravated by the current circumstances that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about.

Dinalupihan, Bataan—As of May 20, a total of 2,936 individuals from Bataan were assisted under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers #Barangay Ko, Bahay Ko (TUPAD #BKBK) program. In Central Luzon, 24,469 informal sector workers benefitted from the said program-- totaling the distributed amount to more than P105.1 million.

As the country prepares to adopt a new normal work setting, informal sector workers are set to benefit from the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) emergency employment program to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to the sector.

To help cushion the impact of COVID-19, the Department of Labor and Employment continuously aided workers from the vulnerable and marginalized sectors through its social amelioration programs.
