The Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) through the Workers’ Social Amelioration and Development Division (WSADD) continues to conduct a one day appreciation course on Generating Your Business (GYB) Idea for the workers of Department of Energy (DOE) accredited bioethanol and biodiesel companies nationwide.
During the first quarter of 2019, the said course was conducted in Luzon, particularly in Metro Manila and CALABARZON. This initiative will move across the country, with Visayas, particularly Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental, as the next target this May 10.
“This is in support to the initiative of the Department in raising awareness and promoting access of the biofuel workers to the various programs and services under the Social Amelioration and Welfare Program or SAWP,” Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla, BWSC Director, said.
Trayvilla added, “In return, this will also establish the connection between the representatives of the bioethanol and biodiesel companies and the DOLE provincial offices who shall provide assistance and address program-related concerns to workers in these establishments.”
Workers’ representatives from these companies including their respective Human Resource personnel are expected to attend the program.
The activity will help the participants to bring about business ideas that will suit their needs, and will subsequently allow them to maximize the livelihood assistance program offered through the SAWP.
The GYB was developed and designed by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
