Agusan Del Norte−The Department of Labor and Employment-Agusan Del Norte Provincial Office has released livelihood grants through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) to three workers’ organizations amounting to ₱2.8 million as a post COVID recovery intervention.
A total of 308 farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries benefitted through the program.
The Pinamanculan-Dalingdingan Irrigators Association in Butuan City and Rosario Samahang Nayon Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte were given livelihood grants for their rice milling projects, while the Bangayan Lakeview Association in Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte received assistance for its water refilling project.
The projects were also supported by different government agencies namely, the
Municipal Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Las Nieves, Kitcharao and Butuan City, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), as well as their respective Local Government Units (LGUs).
Through this government intervention, the workers will be able to address their long term needs, especially now that the agriculture industry was severely affected by the pandemic.
“Nagapasalamat kami, uban sa mga katawhan sa Bangayan og miyembro sa Lakeview Association, sa mga ayuda og tabang sa DOLE bisan pa sa kalisod sa problema sa COVID og sa kalayo namo sa Butuan. Kini makatabang dugang sa mga assistance sa panginabuhian sa mga taga-Bangayan. Amo kining amomahon aron mulambo pa. (The people of Bangayan and members of Lakeview Association are thankful for the livelihood assistance provided by DOLE amidst the difficulties brought about by COVID. The livelihood is a big help for the community, and we will make sure that this will prosper),” said Brgy. Bangayan Punong Barangay Joseph Senonis.
The DILP is one of the flagship programs of the BWSC, which grants livelihood assistance that will contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the vulnerable and marginalized workers.
